About the Author:

Asok Kumar Mallik retired from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 2009, where he was Professor of Mechanical Engineering since 1982. He is a Fellow of The Indian National Academy of Engineering and all the three Science Academies of India. Professor Mallik has written articles on school mathematics in Resonance, a journal of science education.
