Geometry has been respected since ancient times even Plato’s academy warned that no one ignorant of geometry should enter. Although the golden period of Greek geometry ended long ago, geometry still remains an important part of school mathematics. Over the years many new subjects entered the curriculum, so the space for geometry became smaller. Still, everybody agrees that geometry is beautiful and helps us build logical thinking.
This book is not a school textbook. It is a small book meant for those students and adults who were once interested in geometry in school, but never had the chance to go a little deeper just for joy. It is also useful for mathematics teachers who want to present something extra to bright students to show that even in the 21st century, new and surprising results are still coming up in basic geometry.
In modern math competitions, many geometry questions are asked in MCQ format, because answer scripts are machine-checked. So instead of writing proofs, students are only asked for numbers like length, angle, or area. This book includes around forty such problems with detailed solutions.
The author has used many good sources, and listed them properly in the References. Finally, there is an Appendix to refresh common school geometry results for adults who may have forgotten the basics.
